Here are a few tips to help:
Be sure not to use loud bright colours, this will make it look even smaller. Stick to white or soft pale colours.
Try not to use big furniture that takes up too much room. If you have a double bed in here, that will take up most of the room. So instead of side tables, buy a headboard with a ledge that you can put your phone etc. Fix lamps to the wall instead to save more space.
Use wall space rather than floor space. Put up shelves for books or other accessories rather than storage on the floor.
It is best to use thin curtains to give the bedroom optimum natural light. You can always install a shutter to the outside, so when you are sleeping you can put that down and keep it dark.
Make sure you measure the room carefully as any miscalculation can end up with furniture not fitting correctly.
Place mirrors on the outside of your wardrobes, mirrors really help to make spaces appear bigger than they are.
Any piece of furniture you buy check that it has good extra storage like drawers under the bed. Instead of a chair you could buy a stool that has added storage underneath it.
The main thing is not to keep any clutter. Throw things away you do not need and keep the room tidy and organised.
