Using white/beige tones is the basic rule. With just a splash of colour.
Lets start in the living room, the coffee table is the key feature. You do not want to give a flat effect on this table, you want a couple of books or magazines, make sure they are in perfect condition with no bent edges etc. You can also place a couple of candles and a plant. Make sure it is not too over the top it needs to be kept minimal and neat.
Take out any clutter the whole vibe must be minimal, if you want books on a bookshelf then make sure it all matches the tone of room and put away any that are in bad condition.
Keep the tone of the walls the same. Then add colour using paintings, sofas and carpets. Make sure you keep the colour tone of these things all the same as well so it all matches.
Dress your kitchen table as if you are about to eat with a plate at each setting and knives and forks with a wine glass for each plate. Keep all your plates etc in the cupboards in a strict order. Store everything in matching containers and keep everything well aligned.
Use plants and flowers to add character to your home but again make sure the colours match with that area of the house and do not overdo it. You do not want your home to turn into a jungle. Use empty glass bottles as a flower vase.
Make sure all your bedding matches and your bed is always made. You can keep some matching cushions on top as well. Keep bedside tables clean and tidy with just a simple lamp and or clock.
When it comes to the bathroom make sure your soap dispenser, cup and toothbrush holder all match and are neatly aligned. Make sure all towels are neatly folded and placed like you would find in a hotel. Keep a nice basket bin next to the sink or if you are worried about the basket getting ruined find one that will match the tone of your bathroom, a simple silver one may fit.
If you want to continue the theme to outside then keep all flowers and grass properly trimmed. Remove any dead flowers. Make sure your cushions are all clean and properly placed on your seating area. Keep the table clean and clear. Only place a couple of candles for decoration. Hose down any pavement area to keep it looking clean and fresh.
