Here´s a few tips to make the most of your balcony.
First thing you want to do is to get rid of any clutter. Anything you don´t use put it in storage, sell or just throw away.
If you are buying furniture for a new home you just bought. Remember to measure your balcony and consider the size when buying furniture. You want to make sure you still have room to walk around without big furniture taking up too much space. If your furniture is too big it will make your balcony look smaller too.
Already have furniture and don´t want to buy new? You can always update it by buying new seat covers, just remember to make sure they are suitable for outdoor use.
There is no point having lovely new furniture if you can only use it for a short time of day because you get a lot of sun. Invest in a good awning/cabana or umbrella depending on the size of your balcony.
Buy some candles or lights so you can enjoy sitting out at night too. You can always store them away when not in use. They are ideal for brightening up posts or railings. You can also get ones that repel the bugs too if you get bit a lot.
Put some nice plants and don´t forget to water them. You can also find some pictures that are outside friendly if you want to add something to a plain wall.
More and more people are trying to recreate their outside to look like their inside as they spend more time outside. If you are wanting to do the same there are carpets you can put outside they are uv and rain resistant. They can also be washed with the hose and you can put a non slip support underneath to keep it in place.
A really quick way to change the look of your balcony is to put some wood effect tiles on the floor.
If you have children or pets then you may want to invest in some artificial grass. It will be less harsh on your children´s knees than ceramic floor.
Lastly the most easiest thing you can do is give your terrace and furniture a fresh layer of paint to brighten it up and make it look new again.
