If you start noticing your plants wilting and the heads falling off.  It could be that they need more water.  The summer heat will dry things up much quicker especially your container plants so be sure to water things more in the hot season.

Potted plants standing in a saucer with water at the bottom is a breading ground for mosquito's. Instead place moist sand in the bottom, this will also help the roots to stay cool, plants can overheat too.  If your plants look dry even though you are watering them enough maybe they cannot stand the heat.  Try placing them out of direct sunlight for a while and see if that helps.  You can always research the plant online and check how much sunlight it needs to stay healthy.

Try watering your plants in the morning or early afternoon.  If you water late on and do not allow time for it to dry out, this will give chance for mildew to attack the leaves and again that will attract the mosquito's.

Check for broken garden sprinklers and hoses.  Unblock any nozzles to make sure your garden is being properly watered.

If your garden is too dry and brown it could be that you are cutting it too low.  Cut your grass on the highest setting that your mower permits.  A longer grass wears better and also helps to stop those pesky weeds from starting to grow.

Before adding a new line to your trimmer spray it with vegetable oil.  This will help to prevent breakages and stop it from jamming.

The next time you boil or steam vegetables don´t throw the water down the drain.  Use it to water your potted plants, not only will you save using extra water but it will give them some good nutrients too.  You will be surprised at the difference!!

Turn a good sized pot upside down and use it for a side table for when your sat outside and need somewhere to put your drink.

The quickest way to dry your herbs is in your car.  Make sure you put newspaper down first though and that your windows are shut.  It will also double as a air freshener too.

If you are looking to do some hard work in your garden make sure to do it when its cooler and make sure to wear sun cream and a hat so you don´t end up with sun stroke or anything.  Drink plenty of water and take plenty of rests.  If you don´t want soil bedding under your fingernails then before you start rub them over a bar of soap.  This will seal the undersides of your nails and stop anything getting in.  Afterwards use a nailbrush to clean it out.

So there you go some great tips to keep your garden looking great through the summer.  Don´t forget to sit out as much as you can and enjoy the view 🙂
