Proud Sponsors of Ms South Yorkshire Galaxy

We are very proud to announce that one of our own from the admin team is currently in the UK pursuing her dreams of being a pageant girl.  It is an honour to sponsor her on her journey to the crown.  She will be taking part in the finals in March 2018 representing her home county of South Yorkshire. From now until March she is also raising money for The Christie charity.  As stated on their website this charity supports the development of cancer prevention, treatment, research and education through investment in staff, equipment, facilities and other support services. They do this by making grants to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, and, occasionally to other related bodies.  As so many people are affected by cancer this is an amazing charity to support.  If you would like to help then you can donate directly to the charity through Emma's fundraising page by clicking here.  The money she raises will go towards the first Proton Beam Therapy Centre in the UK.  An amazing cause that we would ask all our clients to give whatever they can to support. And good luck to Emma that she brings home the crown and goes on to Orlando, Florida to compete in the International Galaxy Pageant.  We are all routing for you.

Renovation

We are very excited to announce the renovation of our Marbella office.  We endeavour to make sure this makes as little disruption as possible.  We apologise for any inconvenience, however, we are sure you will love the new look. We will share before and after photos once work is complete. Again, apologies for any inconvenience.

New Marbella Free Phone Number and Oktoberfest

From October 2017 you will be able to call Marbella Council for free on a 900 number if you are a resident.  A new phone app is also available allowing people to report road incidents.

The purpose of the phone number is so that residents can request changes for a new pavement, street lamp etc.

Also if you are in Marbella this week from the 4th to the 8th of October why not drink some beer and this years Oktoberfest at constitution park (parque de la constitucion).  You can go there between 17.00 to 23.00 hrs.  It is free to enter and there will be music, food and drink.

Tips For Brightening a Dark Living Area.

If you find your living area really dull and not very bright, here are some tips to help brighten in up.

The first really simple and easy change is to paint all your walls white.  You want to keep the floors and walls simple and light.  Stick to white and beige for your floors and walls.

You want to keep the furniture bright as well so if you are at a point where you can redecorate then chose a light colour sofa and storage units.  If you are not wanting to change your furniture then you can always buy a light coloured throw for your sofa to brighten it up.

Try to not put high furniture if you can as that way you can use the empty wall space to bounce light around the room.

If you don´t get much natural light then use halogen lamps as they are a similar effect to having the sunlight inside.  If you can, do not use curtains on the windows, leave it open to let as much light in as possible. If you need a curtain then it is best to use a roller blind as when it is open it does not obstruct any of the window.

Also make sure nothing is blocking the windows, get rid on any clutter on the window sills.  You can also see when the light comes through and check if there are any pieces of furniture, plants or anything else blocking light then relocate these to another part of the room.

Lastly you can put up mirrors to multiply the light around the room.

Do you have any other ideas to create more light to a room?  Let us know in the comments.

Why Expats Should Not Panic and Rush Back to UK

With the consequences of Brexit still unclear there are some British already packing to go back to the UK in fear that things may turn pear shaped.

First of all we do not actually know what the final outcome will be, things are so unclear and wouldn't you be upset if you upped and moved back only to find you could have actually stayed in your home abroad with no problem?   Plus once you leave, if a good solution is reached, you may not be able to afford to come back and start again.  Would you regret your decision?

Many people who sell their home in Spain and France will find the money they make will not be enough to buy a property in the UK and may leave them with more money troubles than if they just stayed put.

For Spain the British Expats and tourists bring in a lot of money for their country, so it's in their interest to come up with a solution to make it easy for Brits to move freely otherwise they will risk a big drop in their own economy.

Many people worry about not being able to get healthcare, before rushing back why not get some quotes on private healthcare, you may be surprised at how affordable and useful it can be.  Plus if Brexit goes really bad there is a chance the UK will no longer be able to provide free healthcare anymore as they may not be making enough income to support the service.  With the shortage of nurses and doctors, how long would you have to wait to get seen by a doctor?  Would it make a difference in the treatment you receive?

Some have also raised concerns about their pension but as things also are not clear it is best to wait and see exactly what will happen after Brexit.  If you are really worried make sure to keep following the news on this issue to see what the outcome may be for your pension.  Also bear in mind that many products in Britain have gone up in price since Brexit so your pension may not spread as far as it did in the past.

So as you can see there are already a number of things to consider before panicking and making a dash back to the UK.  Even with all this up in the air we still have many Brits escaping and buying property here so why would you up and leave your home when its not even clear what the final outcome will be.  Think about it if every single British expat fled back to the UK then the country would be bursting at the seams with people.  It could not possibly cope with the amount of people so they will have to come up with a solution to suit everyone.  There are still people in hope that Brexit will still not go through.

In our opinion it is best to try and wait it out until there are more clear answers before making any rash decision.  However if you do decide to sell up or on the flip side if you are looking to leave the UK and move to Marbella then contact us to help you sell or buy your property.

Spain Top of The List for Holidays and Living

With all the many problems going on in different parts of the world, Spain continues to be a safe and popular place to vacation and live.

If you thought that Brexit was deterring the Brits as well then you are wrong as Spain has already had 10% more British holiday makers than last year.  Spain makes a huge amount of money from tourism with Andalucia alone already making 6 billion in the first quarter of this year.

Brexit also hasn't made a big dint on buyers either with reports showing that on average there are over 3 million searches for property in Spain every month.

So what is it that keeps drawing people in to this country?  One big reason we touched on earlier, that's the safety, there are many other countries with problems at the moment that people want to know that are in safe hands when they travel to another country.

The next big reason is the weather.  Spain has the best climate in Europe with hot summers and mild winters.  Marbella itself has 320 average sunny days per year, who doesn't like waking up to sun every morning?

Spain has some of the top resort locations in Europe like Marbella, Ibizi, Alicante, Mallorca and the Canary Islands.

Another reason people enjoy Spain so much is the pace of life.  It is much more relaxed and rather than the focus being on work, the focus is on enjoying time with family and friends.

So with that being said if you are looking into buying a property in Marbella then do not hesitate to get in touch and let us help you find the perfect home for you.

Virgen del Carmen Parade 2017

If you are in Marbella this week then Sunday 16th July be sure not to miss the Virgen del Carmen parade.  The Virgen del Carmen is the protector of all fishermen and seamen.  There will be a parade leading to the port when the statue of the Virgen del Carmen will be taken out onto a boat and taken around the harbor.   People will say prayers for all the people at sea to be safe and there are even some that will not swim in the sea until after this day when they feel protected.

The procession will start at 6pm on Sunday 16th July from The Casa Hermandad (Street/Calle José Manuel Vallés).  It will make its way down to the beach where there will be wreaths and 7pm they will go from the fisherman's port in Marbella to Puerto Banus.  There will be many boats in the sea with banners and flowers and they will be sounding their horns.  At 9pm they will make their way to take the Virgin del Carmen back to the temple.
